It has to be, given the abuse we all sit back and take from the so called ‘normal‘ people out there. I really wonder at times, what drives people to being so racist, so intolerant? Just who have we (homosexuals) pissed off so much, that they convince people we are sick, perverted, evil, sinners, and mentally unbalanced? I really would like to know, so maybe Stephen Harper, George Bush, and others could enlighten me. After all, they are leaders of those who hate me.

I am rather dismayed at the hatred being show, even up here in the land of supposed tolerance, Canada.

In a province, a school district elected to refuse a noted Gay Author (Alex Sanchez) from speaking to students in the district. It made the CBC News because well, it is newsworthy. I mean after all, this is Canada, and that kind of Racism doesn’t go up here, or does it? After reading many of the comments that follow the story, from so called average Canadians, I feel rather ashamed of Canada. Well, not Canada, but those who have posted their vile hatred, for all to see.

Alex Sanchez writes books about gay youth and their struggle to find acceptance, but local school principals were not comfortable allowing him to address their students.

Jay Remer, spokesman for the Charlotte County Rainbow Support Group, said Sanchez is a terrific public speaker whose message is about tolerance.

He said Sanchez’s mission is “to help the gay youth in the community to feel less isolated and more part of the community as a whole.” (source - CBC News)

While there are a fair number who are trying to make the case, that differences aren’t evil, that one’s interpretation of the Bible isn’t everyone’s, it just seems so depressing. I do not understand people, that hate so much, and I wonder, what is it that I did to them? I am Gay, PROUD OF IT, but I wonder at times, about my fellow man. How can they hate me, simply because I love another man? They don’t know me, so how can they sit in judgement of me, and my lifestyle?

Then too, there are those who still actually believe that not only is being gay a choice, but that many see the light and return to being normal.

So just what is Normal by their definition? Is it to wage war based on lies? How about that Whites are the Superior Race, when the truth is, Whites are actually a minority, just as Christianity is a minority as well. And yet they seem to be willing to accept that it is the only real religion, and that only their own view of it, is the right path. Now I don’t know about them, but I believe in God. I believe he is a kind & loving power, that has made some tough choices, one of which is granting us Free Will. I believe he cares for all of us, and if the purported last words of Christ on the Cross are true, then how can he hate me for being Gay?

How can anyone believe, that GOD can hate any of his children?

I simply do not understand it, but then I am mental, so some of my fellow Canadians believe, while at the same time telling me their God loves me, but only if I deny who I am, who he created. It is sad, but it is life today in 2008. Makes you wonder, did we slip into a time warp somehow, and this is really 1933?

They actually get paid, by tax payer dollars, to advise the Military, to tell them that letting Gays serve openly will cause a rise in HIV infection, among US service people. Like are they trying to say that there are a lot more homo's in the US Military or that many more will be willing to take it up the ass, simply because a gay guy is in their unit? What absolute twaddle, and the tax payer pays for it.

Which is what DADT[1. US military policy acronym for Don't Ask, Don't Tell, regarding gays serving in the armed forces] is really about. While General Peter Pace claims the US Military upholds a higher standard of ethics, he supports the Clinton Compromise of making people LIE. Now some will argue that DADT isn’t about lying, just not volunteering information, but isn’t there something in the Bible about Sins of Omission? Yet here is the Religious Right insisting that Homosexuals abandon their truth, that they OMIT telling anyone they are, WHO GOD CREATED.

The US Congress is once again debating this fifteen year old bill, and again the religious nut jobs are in full throttle. Again they claim that having openly serving gays will disrupt unit cohesiveness, will create untold problems, but what they don’t get, that shit didn’t work in the late 1940′s and 1950′s either when they tried to deny blacks from serving in mixed units. Racism Never Works.

Among the most arresting debates Wednesday came when Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Pa., a first-term congressman and the only Iraq war veteran in Congress, accused a witness of implying that U.S. service members weren’t professional enough to handle serving with homosexuals. (source – CBS News)

In some ways, I would agree. Americans really don’t seem willing to accept change, or people who are different very easily. I would call that racism, but then I am not politically correct. Course all those who oppose homosexuals, do so out of a deep moral conviction, a deep religious belief. They seem to forget, that as all man is created by HIM, that even us nasty queers are HIS CHILDREN.

So now, they have come up with a new one. They claim that allowing us Queers to openly serve, and because we are such horny persuasive people, the incidents of HIV INFECTION will rise Dramatically among the US Military Personnel.

Donnelly contended that if the law were repealed the number of HIV-positive service members would probably increase.

Rep. Vic Snyder, D-Ark., a Vietnam veteran and medical doctor, called that comment “so inappropriate” and suggested that Donnelly advocate for the military to recruit only lesbians, who he said have a low incidence of HIV. (source – CBS News)

You gotta love these hypocrites. To begin with, HIV is not restricted to just Gay Men, just as Gonorrhea or Syphilis aren’t restricted to single straight heterosexuals. Then again, I suppose this is all part of the secret Gay Agenda, to infect straight soldiers with HIV, so we can make them all Gay too. What galls me is that these people are being paid by Tax Dollars for their warped opinions. No wonder the Military is so screwed up.

Making it marriage is not just about financial benefits. It is about sending a powerful message to those who blindly hate others, for no reason but their differences. It is about ending the cycle of bullying, of violence against people who are different. Calling it something else, is just pandering to those fears, to those who justify their racism & violence. Marriage is a symbol, one that all people are entitled to under civil law, because all laws apply to all people, equally. You can't pick who any single law applies to, for if you do, then that is discrimination.

At times, Marriage seems to dominate my thinking.

Not sure why, except that I think way too many people are missing the finer points of why we need to have it clearly stated, across the Globe, that two men or two women can be legally bound in Marriage. Now, that doesn’t mean any Religious Order has to perform that ceremony, or even acknowledge it, but it does mean that our Government MUST.

While there are practical benefits, financial ones as well, there is another more important reason WHY IT HAS TO BE MARRIAGE. To begin with it is about the CHILDREN. I know, it sounds a bit odd, but kids learn racism, hatred, and bigotry from the Adults and Society. If we teach them that being different is somehow evil, somehow UNGODLY, we are teaching them HATRED. Take how the Religious Right objected to the simple fact that in the popular children’s book series, Harry Potter, that Dumbledore was Gay.

When you have Presidents, Popes, and other Authority Figures going around saying that it is vital for the moral well being of a nation to DENY EQUAL RIGHTS to a portion of their society, it sends a signal to the kids. It tells them that Gays Aren’t Equal, are somehow bad. It leads to taunts, to bullying in schools, and it leads to violence. Just ask the parents of Mathew Shepard.

Having the right to Marry won’t end that kind of thinking, but it goes a long way to ending it. Yet it does more than that, because it also becomes a symbol for Gay Teens. It says to them, while they recover from the physical and mental abuse of their peers, that there is HOPE. It says to them, as they contemplate ending their young lives, that things can change, that AUTHORITY DOES RECOGNIZE THEM AS BEING EQUAL. It says that they are just as worthy of being a part of society as any heterosexual is.

And that is a POWERFUL SYMBOL. It can make the difference between a gay teen becoming one more suicide statistic, OR NOT.

A leading cause of death among Gay Teens, IS SUICIDE. By doing what is right, by not highlighting the differences, we can help make that a non issue. By granting of MARRIAGE, we say to the Gay Teens that they are not pariahs, that they are not evil or worse. Now I don’t know, but from all I have read about Jesus Christ, that is sort of what he stood for, to take unto him the unpopular? Makes one wonder why it is HIS CHURCH that is so adamant about keeping homosexuals in the closet, doesn’t it?
